Dr. Leilah R. Demol participated in the 64th Convention of the Nutritionist-Dietician’s Association of the Philippines (NDAP) on February 20 to 22, 2019 at Conrad Hotel, Manila. The convention commenced with a two-day pre-convention workshop series that focused on nutrition care process, specifically on physical assessment. The guest speakers were from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, USA.
The convention’s theme was “Best ND Practices: Drivers for Change and Innovation.” The conference aimed at enhancing existing ideas on the best practices in the nutrition and dietetics discipline to improve nutritional care and support.
The convention started with a pre-convention seminar on Nutrition Care Process and Nutrition-Focused Physical Examination by the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The profession has reciprocity agreement with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Thus, Filipino RNDs have the privilege to take the US- Dietetics Examination here in the Philippines; their Philippine credentials and clinical experiences are considered valid.
The attendance of Dr. Demol will partly comply with RA 10912 and RA 10862, mandating Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of all regulated professions to upgrade the practice of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Philippines. This is proof that AMCC supports its faculty and staff to update their knowledge and skills to realize the mission and vision of the college.
