Mrs. Louella Joy Osorio, high school English teacher, joined a group of elementary and high school teachers to evaluate books for SPUC elementary and high school levels during the Education Advisory on February 20, 2019 at SPUC, Carmen Hills, Cagayan de Oro City.
Mrs. Osorio was assigned to evaluate high school textbooks for English that SPUC schools will use next year.
Mrs. Osorio reflected: “It’s a great honor to be part of the evaluating team! Book evaluation is very important since it helps us, the teachers, to validate the worth of a specific book before using it not only in terms of its quality and price but of its content. Its content should be arranged and in sequence, has appropriate illustrations and examples, has the complete lessons based on the expected learning competencies of the learners, and most importantly, it should inculcate values in its learning activities. As teachers of Adventist institutions, it is our duty and responsibility to not only focus on the academic performance of our students but also on their character development.”
